You have to love what you do, to be the best that you can be.
This is especially true for those of us who work in creative industries; everything we produce is an extension of who we are. ‘Creativity’ and ‘Industry’ are not natural companions, but the arrangement between them allows us to work in an artistic capacity. Over time, the business of seeing/pricing ourselves and our work as commodities, along with associated business pressures, can remove us from the reasons we initially chose to do what do. It, therefore, takes the discipline of stepping back and seeing everything as a client does for the first time, to bring clarity and a refreshed perspective.
I’ve recently had my website rebranded and rebuilt, and this has afforded me an excellent opportunity to do this. I have always enjoyed what I do, but by going over every facet of my wedding video business – showreels, timeline images, client testimonials, etc. – I’ve been overwhelmed by how much love and passion I still have for what I do. Perhaps now more than ever before.
So, always try to take a moment to remember how much you love what you do.
Be your best.
